Meraki Launches Cloud-Managed Enterprise Wireless Networking Solutions
Meraki's cloud-managed wireless access points deliver Layer 7 security and central management through a Cloud Wireless LAN Controller, removing the need for controller hardware.
The line-up includes wireless access points with security capabilities up to Layer 7 and high performance, which administrators can manage centrally through a Cloud Wireless LAN Controller, so users no longer need to invest in Wireless LAN Controller hardware.
Meraki is an American manufacturer of Layer 7 wireless access points and Layer 7 routers, and has received official funding support from Google. More than 17,000 organisations have already deployed Meraki equipment, and more than 35 million people have connected to wireless networks through Meraki. In the most recent year it was placed in the Visionaries position of Gartner's Magic Quadrant, as the most successful player in Cloud Wireless LAN Controller solutions.
Beyond its strengths in management through the Cloud Wireless LAN Controller, security is another highlight of Meraki's solutions, including Identity-based Firewall Policy, Network Access Control, Site-to-Site VPN, Content Filtering, Application Traffic Shaping, Wireless IPS, Hardware/Software Inventory Management and Client Insight. All of these have made Meraki a highly trusted solution, to the point that it outperformed a major competing brand such as Cisco: a Tolly Group survey found that the Meraki MR24 delivered up to 40% higher performance than the Cisco Aironet 3502, while also being more cost-effective because users no longer need to buy a Wireless LAN Controller. In today's enterprise wireless networking market, Meraki has therefore become a highly noteworthy option.
