Sky Globe
Click anywhere on Earth for the current weather and a five-day forecast — day and night follow the real sun
Sky Globe puts the weather on a 3D globe instead of a flat list. Spin the Earth, click any point — a city, an ocean, the middle of nowhere — and it shows the conditions there now plus a five-day forecast in three-hour steps, with animated clouds, rain, snow, lightning and wind over the spot you picked. Day and night on the globe are computed from the real position of the sun, and OpenWeather map layers (clouds, rain, temperature, wind) wrap around the planet itself.
Built in-house by the Net Bright team with Claude Code — Three.js + OpenWeather
Open to everyone — no account, no install. Weather data comes live from OpenWeather.

What it does
- Real day/night terminator computed from the actual sun position, with ocean reflections and an atmospheric glow
- OpenWeather layers wrapped on the globe — clouds, rain, temperature and wind
- City search, quick-pick cities and a “my location” button
- Timeline: now plus five days in 3-hour steps — drag the slider or press play to animate
- Animated weather effects over the selected point — cloud, rain, snow, lightning, fog and wind direction
- Works on desktop and mobile, straight from the browser
Who it helps
- Teams planning work that depends on the weather — field service, events, logistics
- Anyone following conditions in several cities at once
- A lobby or operations screen that deserves something nicer than a weather widget
- Teams curious what in-browser 3D visualisation can look like — this is the kind of work we do
